How to make sodium nitrate, which can substitute for potassium nitrate in almost all pyrotechnic purposes except flame color. Note: Sodium Nitrate is somewhat hygroscopic. Stuff you make from it such as pyrotechnic compositions should be used soon after making and not stored for extended periods of time. WARNING: Both procedures produce large quantities of ammonia gas. You have to do this experiment outside or in a fumehood. First get ammonium nitrate from an instant cold pack as seen in our previous video: www.youtube.com For the baking soda method. Get 80 grams of ammonium nitrate and dissolve it in 150mL of water. Filter it off directly into 84 grams of sodium bicarbonate, which is baking soda. Don't expect it to dissolve, it won't. Boil the mixture down to 100mL or less. This is needed to decompose the ammonium bicarbonate that's formed. You cannot simply evaporate the mixture. The boiling will release large amounts of ammonia so you have to do this outside or in a fumehood. Once it's boiled, leave it to evaporate until dry. Sodium nitrate will decompose if heated too strongly so you cannot boil it down all the way dry unless you can ensure the temperature never goes above 200 Celsius. Leaving a little water is the safest way to ensure the best product. For the sodium hydroxide method: Place 80 grams of ammonium nitrate in a tall container and pour 40 grams of sodium hydroxide on top. Then carefully pour 30mL of water and stand back. Some people recommend reverse osmosis. That's an expensive and largely unnecessary step, even for drinking water filtration. It also creates gallons of wastewater and there are no units specifically designed for your showerhead. You'd have to get one for the whole house.
Whole house filters are sometimes a good idea, but generally speaking, your showerheads and your kitchen faucets are most important. There's no particular reason to filter the waters for the toilet or even the laundry. You can always add water softeners to the laundry.
Some people recommend a brand called Wellness. There's no real reason to go to that expense, either. They make some scientific claims that they can't back up with hard evidence. There biggest claim to fame is that they are supposedly used in the number one health spa in the world, but I couldn't verify that, either.
The best shower filters for hard water have been evaluated and rated by Consumer Reports. The company provides certified product performance data before you buy. The cost of use is pennies a day and the replacement filter lasts a full six months.
In case you have a hard time remembering when it's time to change your filter, the company offers automatic shipment and discounts for signing up. There are many ways to save money. Buying direct from the factory is one easy way.
You want a product that is easy to install and unlikely to leak, simply to avoid frustration. If you're tall, you also want one that does not reduce the height of the showerhead.
The right shower filters for hard water will protect your health, as well as prevent that scaly build up on your bathroom fixtures. Just be sure to shop carefully, so that you don't end up disappointed.

No, black and white infrared, no funky colored skies, no sound effects added, no "silent movies" and no added music! The only on site effetcs were the occasional use of a polarizing filter and slow shutter speeds in two sequences. The only image edits were the fade from and to black, the fades between the scenes, some minor color corrections, some minor gain reduction, some video noise reduction and some added stereo "sound spreading". Uploader's Note This is the last major video shoot that I will be doing of this place untill mid-October when the leaves turn color. With the on and off bad weather that's been hitting the NY Tri-State area over the past 5 days I decided to go to the Ramapo Reservation and tape the Ramapo River and the brook along the Waterfall Trail as the rainfall made their levels higher and more active..............and louder! Note the two large branches at the base of the waterfall!

Reeves Terrapin (chinemys reevsii), Chinese golden thread (ocadia sinesis)This is my families aquatic turtle terrariaum. The two turtles are housed with a chinese water dragon, and also small koi. We started with water dragon almost two years ago and added the turtles about 10 months ago to the enclosure. They live very well with one another. You can see the DUAL waterfalls we have in there. One is a waterfall and filter creating a pondless effect, the other being just rocks held up by magnets on walls, with a strategically placed filter/pump providing the water flow. The other big effect is the exo terra fogger in the corner providing the fog and adding further humidity to the terrarium. There are various branches and vines throughout the enclosure. Exo terra hanging plants add a great accent to the enclosure, also covering unsightly wires and hoses. This is my 1st ever video (DUH!) which shows how to heat-form flexible pvc tubing to fit Intex saltwater system fittings. No glue, totally reversible and non-permanent. Each adpater is .99 from intex but the shipping is .99. Final cost is just under .00 but these adapters can be made any length and they compensate for misaligned pipes and offest runs. They also offer visibility. I've used this tubing before convert skimmer/strainer basket hoses and pool inlet hoses. Current system configuration is 1-1/2hp Duraglas pump, 50 lb. Hayward sand filter and Zippy/Barracuda pressure side cleaner. There is also piggy back heating with 2 - 3ft X 7ft roof mounted, DIY solar water heaters. This is currently hooked up to an 8 y/o 15ft diameter steel sided AGP. It could easily handle 12000 gals.
